Unrealities: Immersive Experience

Grand Egyptian Museum, Egypt - 2024

In 2024, I curated "Unrealities," a series of virtual reality experiences created by Retail Design students at the American University in Cairo. This curatorial project emerged from my commitment to positioning emerging creative voices within institutional and international contexts, bridging pedagogical practice with professional exhibition standards.

As a curator, I guided students through rigorous conceptualization and execution of immersive VR experiences, establishing critical frameworks that elevated their work beyond classroom exercises into professionally curated installations. The curation process involved meticulous selection and contextualization of works, ensuring each project demonstrated both technical sophistication and conceptual depth—meeting the standards expected in contemporary immersive media discourse.

The exhibition was presented at the Grand Egyptian Museum during the RiseUp Summit, a significant platform that positioned student work alongside international professionals in art, design, and technology. This institutional partnership elevated the visibility of emerging talent while establishing the university as a leader in immersive media pedagogy and practice.

By carefully curating the exhibition, I created meaningful professional exposure for students, fostering connections with industry practitioners, and establishing pathways for future collaborations and career advancement. The project exemplifies my approach to curatorial practice: one that recognizes emerging voices, establishes rigorous standards, and creates institutional contexts where experimental work can reach broader audiences and contribute to contemporary discourse.
